Between the Spanish songs blaring from the speakers, and the graffiti splattered on the walls, you'll truly feel like you're in Mexico. They claim to have the largest collection of tequila in the Philippines, and their bartenders are knowledgeable enough to tell you the difference between highland and lowland agave.

As the name suggests, this is a French-inspired restaurant-slash-bar. The bohemian vibe is inviting, as is the outdoor garden. They serve traditional, authentic French cuisine, on top of Php80 rum that comes in a wide range of exotic flavors. Foreigners and backpackers love this place, so if you'd like to meet some of them, look no further than this bar.

Also known as "El Chupacabra," this is considered one of the best taco joints in town. It started off as an open-air Mexican-American diner before expanding into the "La Cueva del Chupacabra" ("The Cafe of the Chupacabra"). If you plan to eat here, make sure you order their Horchata drink; it goes great with the tacos!

Named after the Filipino word that roughly translates to "hang out," Tambai is best known for its yakitori (Japanese-style barbecue). It also offers quail eggs wrapped in bacon, U.S. beef rib fingers and other street food suitable for the Filipino palate — all for as low as Php35 (less than one U.S. dollar). Top it off with a bottle of beer (Php50), and you've got yourself a hearty pulutan.

The first thing you'll notice about this place is the bartenders dressed in lab coats. The second is how small it is: It can accommodate a dozen people, at most. But don't let that fool you: Their gin selection is impressive, and their atmosphere is down-to-earth yet sophisticated. Unfortunately, the only food they offer is sandwiches, so make sure you're full before dropping by!

If there's one place that elevates craft beer to a whole new level, it's this one. The Bottle Shop started off as a showroom by the Global Beer Exchange, until regular patrons convinced the owner to convert it into a bar. There's nothing special about the interiors per se — it's the usual low-key vibe and music you'd expect from a pub — but their offerings more than make up for it.
And that wraps up this week's multi-part post. As always, questions, suggestions and other thoughts are welcome in the comments section below.
