Meanwhile, The Stylistics concert on August 14 will feature Herb Murrell, Airrion Love, Eban Brown and Jason Sharp, plus The Main Ingredient lead singer Cuba Gooding Sr. Reserve your tickets for the Kenny Rogers concert here and The Stylistics concert here before they run out!
As for Charlie Puth, he'll be performing tracks from his album "Nine Track Mind" at the Kia Theatre (also in Quezon City). You can sample his works by streaming his viral hits on YouTube, or book your seats to his concert here to see how talented this young man is!
Watch Non-Mainstream Movies
Missed the Eiga Sai at the Shangri-La Plaza last July? No worries: You can catch four more screenings at the Cultural Center of the Philippines along Roxas Boulevard this month. Watch the drama of two partners-in-crime unfold via "Ken and Kazu," to be screened on August 6 at 6:15 P.M. and August 10 at 3:30 P.M. Or navigate the complicated relationships of the characters in "August in Tokyo" on August 9 at 9:00 P.M. and August 12 at 3:30 P.M.
Alternatively, you can catch the Cinemalaya screenings, which are ongoing until August 14, 2016. Aside from independently-produced Filipino films, Cinemalaya will also feature one Turkish-German film called "Until I Lose My Breath." For more information on the films and screening schedules, visit this link on the official Cinemalaya website.
Watch a Family-Friendly Play
If you or your children love "Hansel and Gretel," here's some great news: Repertory Philippines will bring their version of this classic tale to a theater near you. Adapted by Joy Virata, the show will run every 3:30 P.M., Saturdays and Sundays, at the Onstage Theater in Greenbelt 1, Makati City. Buy your tickets at TicketWorld today, and treat your whole family to an early Christmas.
Visit Bazaars and Expos
For parents (and parents-to-be), Metro Manila has two upcoming events just for you. You can head over to the Bridgetowne Tent in Libis, Quezon City and buy baby goodies from the latest installment of the Babypalooza Bazaar. Or you can drop by the Glorietta 5 Atrium at the Ayala Center in Makati, meet up with celebrity moms, and learn everything there is to know about raising children between 1 to 6 PM.
Likewise, the SMX Convention Center has three expos lined up, all from August 11 to 13, 2016. You have the Corporate Gift Expo, the Signs and Media World Expo, and the Educa Expo. There will also be a Passionfly Pocket Bazaar at the Green Sun along Pasong Tamo, plus the 17th Global Pinoy Bazaar at the Glorietta Activity Center from August 10 to 14, so take your pick!
Walk Through an Art Exhibit
This month, there'll be a couple of exhibits featuring modern art. One is "Art over Coffee | Sanso: Setting the Stage" at the Ayala Museum, where you can meet and greet the people inspired by internationally-acclaimed artist Juvenal Sanso. The other is the "8 Questions" exhibit at the Tin-Aw Art Gallery in Makati City, which features the work of graduates from the UP College of Fine Arts.
"Sanso: Setting the Stage" will run between 3 to 5 PM on August 12, while the "8 Questions" exhibit will run from August 13 to 31. You can see a couple of works from the latter via this Inquirer article.
Get Your Comic Books Signed
Are you a fan of DC Comics' "Deathstroke" series? Here's some good news: You can meet and greet the artists this Saturday at the UP Town Center in Diliman, Quezon City. Penciled by Carlo Pagulayan and inked by Michael Jason Paz, the mercenary-slash-assassin will re-appear in a bi-monthly series in lieu of the DC Rebirth Initiative. For more details and updates on the event, RSVP via the Facebook events page.
Tour an Underground Cemetery
If you can't wait for Halloween, this once-in-a-blue-moon event on August 13 might be what you're looking for. Featuring an English-speaking guide, this tour will involve an exploration of the Philippines' only underground cemetery, as well as a view of the breathtaking Taytay falls. As of this writing, there are only nine slots left on EventBrite, so register before they run out, or before sales close on August 11 (whichever comes earlier).
