That said, if Bonifacio were alive today, he'd probably roll in his grave. Aside from the many faults of the Philippine government (as well as the Filipinos themselves), he would be dismayed at the lack of enthusiasm for his birthday every year. What's the point of commemorating the holiday if it's only seen as either (1) an easy way to milk overtime pay from employers; or (2) a flimsy reason to visit Bonifacio's monuments? Let's be a little livelier about it, for goodness' sake!
