But Makati has a fair share of live events venues too. If you've been following our events posts for a while, you'll notice that a few places keep popping up, such as:
12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub
Address: 5/F Century City Mall, Salamanca St. cor. Kalayaan Ave., Makati City
Opening Hours: 4:00 P.M. – 3:00 A.M. (Monday – Saturday)
Mobile Number(s): (+63) 917-570-3222
If you're staying in Makati Avenue, and looking to rock the night away, you can't go wrong with 12 Monkeys. Not only is it inside a cool, hip mall, but it's also a great place to jam with Pinoy rockstars, grab a Palabok Pizza and get a quick drag or two. Now what can be better than that?
Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium
Address: 4th Podium (Northeastern Corner), RCBC Plaza – Tower 1, 6819 Ayala Ave. cor. Gil Puyat Ave., Salcedo Village, Makati City
This has a great location too, but for a different reason. Being inside the RCBC Plaza, the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium is literally a few floors away from corporate offices, fast-food outlets and one Fitness First branch. Also, it often hosts plays, concerts and even worship services.
Address: A.P. Reyes Ave. cor. Hippodromo St., Barangay Carmona, Makati City
Dubbed as the "premier entertainment district in Makati," Circuit Makati is your go-to place for music festivals, film showings and other live performances. (At one point, it even featured international artists like Fedde Le Grand, John Hart, Shogun and Robin Thicke!) If you're up to the task, you can also go kart racing — which we'll talk more about in a future post.
Glorietta Activity Center
Address: Glorietta Complex, Ayala Center, Makati City
You know how the Glorietta Complex is divided into four sections? (We're not counting Glorietta 5, because it's in a separate building.) If you've ever tried to go from one Glorietta to another, chances are you've come across the Activity Center, which connects all four sections. Usually, there's an expo or exhibit going on in this place, though meet-and-greets with celebrities happen every now and then.
Hard Rock Café
Address: 3/F and 4/F, Glorietta 3, Ayala Center, Makati City
Opening Hours: 11:30 A.M. onwards
Phone Number(s): (+632) 893-4661 to 64
It's not just musical performances you'll find in this café. You can also sip their signature entrees, play billiards and shop for memorabilia from your favorite iconic rock stars. They have a regularly updated event calendar where you can see who'll perform in the coming days, so keep that bookmarked!
Address: 2/F Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas cor. Legazpi St., Ayala Center, Makati City
Strangely enough, this live performance venue doesn't get much attention, even though it's located in one of the better known malls in Makati. If you frequently watch movies in the Greenbelt cinemas, though, you'll notice posters advertising events in OnStage Greenbelt. You can also keep tabs on those events through the venue's TicketWorld page, a convenient place to secure your slot from the comfort of your home.
Saguijo Café + Bar
Address: 7612 Guijo St., San Antonio Village, Makati City
Phone Numbers: (+632) 897-8629
Saguijo Café + Bar is, to put it bluntly, a breath of fresh air. Co-founded by the late Chris Carlos, this venue promotes local indie artists by allowing them to perform alongside more established ones. That way, the former can reach their intended audience without compromising their artistic integrity. Also, Saguijo is a chill place where you can meet new friends, have a drink or two, and marvel at the awesome art upstairs.
Address: Suite B, 7274 Malugay St., San Antonio Village, Makati City
Opening Hours: 9:00 P.M. – 4:00 A.M. (Tuesday – Sunday)
Phone Number(s): (+632) 403-5650, (+63) 922-998-9510
Like Saguijo, The Collective is located outside the Central Business District, and flies under the radar of most people. But don't let that low-key profile fool you: The ones who run this place make sure it's packed with activity every time. (Hey, there's a reason this place is often featured in our "Events" posts.)
Now that you know where to watch live performances in Makati, you can personally visit them on your own, and inquire about any upcoming events. Alternatively, you can check out our blog every now and then, so we'll be the ones to update you on said events. As always, if you want to have your say about our lists, or you just want to say "Hi!," feel free to sound off in the comments!
